Do you ever say to yourself…
- “I’m not fat, I’m just big boned!”
- “My arse is so big… it has it’s own postcode!”
- “I’ll have a large burger and fries but just the diet coke so it should be ok!”
Then this show may be for you!
In “How I Made My Arse Look Smaller Simply By Pulling My Head Out Of It” Em O’Loughlin shares with us her frustrations with the diet and weight loss industry… and don’t worry, she is perfectly qualified for the job (she used to weigh 160 kgs herself). Em covers a range of topics in her show such as how the weight loss industry is brainwashing us with their commercials, the evolution of weight loss and why the diet industry keeps making billions of dollars each year whilst the average Australian continues to gain weight.
Em is, let’s just say a very passionate performer and at first I was a bit “put off” because it just seemed to me like a whole bunch of “in your face”, shock-horror, random comedy until she mentions that she too used to be overweight (something in the range of 160 kgs), when I realised that the show was about her and her weight loss journey everything was put into perspective and I actually enjoyed it a lot.
If you’re sick of being brainwashed by the diet and weight loss industry and want an honest “keep it real” voice to tell you how it really is then you will probably enjoy this show.
“How I Made My Arse Look Smaller Simply By Pulling My Head Out Of It” is presented by Em O’Loughlin. It’s on at the Maid and Magpie – the Barn, 1 Magill Road Stepney between now and the 5th of March 2010, for more information refer to the Adelaide Fringe website.
